MTZ - Core Facility Cellular Imaging
We are a joined light and electron microscopy facility in the Medical Theoretical Centre in Dresden. Our goal is to provide advanced imaging techniques to everyone who is interested. Technical assistance and support is available, as well as online scheduling.

Sample preparation
- Sample preparation and cryo-immobilization in cooperation with MPI-CBG
- Sectioning: ultrathin, semi-thin, serial sections, cryo-sections (Tokuyasu)
- Positive contrasting (pre- or post-embedding) and negative staining
- Immuno-labelling/staining (as pre-embedding or labeling on plastic- and cryo-sections)
Imaging
- Data acquisition in transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
- Correlative light electron microscopy/tomography (CLEM)
In addition to image acquisition, the EM facility provides data storage and image-processing support (registration, 3D reconstruction, image segmentation).
